How not to repair a seatbelt
Posted by Mike on 06/14/2011
A very enterprising customer came to us recently asking for a little help. And my goodness are we thankful they did! Check out their handiwork below:
This belt is from a 1978 Mercury Grand Marquis. The Customer stated that prior to having had a body shop bolt the seat belt together, this had been "repaired" using heavy staples, like from a staple gun. After we received it, the belt was re-webbed with a requested ammount of additional webbing added back in. Of course our work was done on sewing machines that are tested TWICE each week and supervised by a degreed mechanical engineer with many years of experience to ensure they are in compliance with load ratings required by federal standards.
